Pain + Inflammation
Inflammation is a necessary process by which the body‘s white blood cells protect us from infection and foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses. In some instances, however, the body‘s defense system (immune system) inappropriately triggers an inflammatory response when there are no foreign substances to balance out.
The inflammation response increases the blood flow to the area resulting in redness, warmth, and may cause leakage of fluid into the tissues resulting in swelling. Inflammatory process may also stimulate nervous system response and cause pain.
